The Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for several Assistant Professor positions in either the non-tenure clinician educator track or the tenure track. Applicants must have an M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. or equivalent degree. ABA certification in anesthesiology, the equivalent, or status as a candidate in the examination system along with ability to obtain a Pennsylvania license are required. Fellowship training in obstetric anesthesiology and/or extensive experience providing obstetric anesthesia care (ideally three years ) is strongly preferred.

Teaching responsibilities may include the instruction of medical students, residents, and fellows rotating through the operating rooms of the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP) and the Penn Presbyterian Medical Center (PPMC) as well as participation in lectures, small groups, workshops, and/or simulation sessions.

Clinical responsibilities may include the provision of obstetrical anesthesia care at HUP as well as the provision of anesthesia care in the operating rooms and non-operating room anesthesia procedural areas at HUP, PPMC, Penn Medicine University City, and other locations staffed by the Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care.

Research or scholarship responsibilities may include collaborative and/or independent research resulting in publications and grants.

Additional responsibilities may include serving on Department committees and serving in administrative leadership positions, as appropriate.

For faculty seeking a non-research faculty appointment, see the related posting for Associated Faculty.

We are an inclusive department seeking candidates who embrace and reflect diversity in the broadest sense. Candidates will be asked about prior activities that promote diversity, inclusion, and care equity. The University of Pennsylvania is an EOE. Women and non-binary individuals, those from ethnic and racial minority groups, individuals with disabilities, and veterans are encouraged to apply.
