Coder Ancillary
Full-time, 80 hours bi-weekly
100% Remote
*Residents of NY, CT, and CA excluded
This position is responsible to provide high quality coding of diagnoses & procedures on Emergency Room, Ancillary & Recurring Account charts, with ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS & CPTcoding systems, after an extensive review of the clinical documentation/chart. This position is also required to abstract data elements for internal and external data submissions as required by CMS, HSCRC and other regulatory agencies. This position requires a commendable knowledge of CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) coding system, as well as the ICD-10-CM & ICD-10-PCS coding systems;This position is responsible to codeOutpatient Ancillary,ER,and all types of Recurring accounts(JMC-JMC/R,BHSand all types of Outpatient Rehab accounts). The high quality of the coding in this position is essential for accurate billing, for internal & external reporting, as well as internal & external data analysis purposes.
Education – Two-year degree acquired from an AHIMA approved program with RHIT credentials, and/or CCA credential,acquired through successful completion of AHIMA credential exam, orCPC or CPC-H credentials, acquired through successful completion of AAPC credentialed exam.
Experience – In addition, 1 year hospital coding experience which includes coding of outpatient Ancillary records using both ICD-10-CM and CPT-4. Demonstration of skills through completion of a hospital administered advanced coding test with a satisfactory score.
Licensure/Certification – At least one of the following: CCA (Certified Coding Associate), CPC or CPC-H (Certified Professional Coder).
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities – Must have a basic/good knowledge ofICD-10 Coding systems, and CPT coding system, Federal Coding Guidelines, National Standards of Ethical Coding, UHDDS Reporting Guidelines,HSCRC State Reporting Guidelines. Must have extensive computer application experience, comprehensive analytic skills and ability to utilize multiple software programs to complete day to day coding tasks. Must have excellent human relation & communication skills and must be able to tactfully and diplomatically address controversial and/or non-compliance issues with members of other departments and the Medical Staff.
Salary range: $20 to $32/hour (*Offers based on experience required for position)
