Frederick Health Employer Solutions is seeking an Emergency Relief Physician Assistant to join our team.
This position will work Monday - Friday, 7am - 5:30 pm on an AS NEEDED basis.
Job Summary
- Perform physical exams and assessments of patients including urgent, emergent, and non-urgent presentations.
- Select, order, perform and interpret diagnostic tests including X-rays as appropriate in collaboration with supervising physician.
- Analyze reports and findings of tests to diagnose patients in collaboration with supervising physician as appropriate.
- Prescribe or administer treatment, therapy, medication, vaccination, and other specialized medical care to treat or prevent illness and injury in collaboration with supervising physician.
- Refers patient to PCP or specialist as appropriate.
- Perform procedures including laceration repair, I Ds, IVs removal of foreign bodies, splinting and casting, and ear irrigations.
- Utilizes practice guidelines and standardized procedures in collaboration with the supervising physicians in providing medical care to patients.
- Performs DOT physicals.
- Explain procedures, discuss test results, and prescribe treatments to patients.
- Document findings and treatment courses in patient electronic medical records including follow-up notes.
- Interact with medical practices and emergency room physicians to create a cooperative atmosphere.
- Maintain an up-to-date knowledge base for medical conditions and injuries that may be present in an urgent care setting.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Must have knowledge of computer skills. Experience with prior electronic medical records (EMR) is preferred.
- Maintains the necessary CME credits to maintain licensure.
- Must demonstrate ability to stay organized; is able to multi-task effectively.
- Must demonstrate time management, conflict resolution, and trouble shooting skills.
- Must demonstrate good interpersonal and communication skills.
Minimum Education, Training, and Experience Required:
- Physician Assistant: Certification of completion from an approved Physician Assistant program
- Licensed to practice medicine in the State of Maryland.
- Current DEA license.
- Current Maryland Controlled Substance license.
- NRCME DOT examination certificate required.
- Current BLS Certification through American Heart Association or an approved training center.
- License to practice in any state that has never been suspended or revoked.
- Has not been excluded from participation from any Payers.
- 1+ years of experience in hospital or outpatient setting preferred.
