Job Description

AECOM is seeking a self-driven and motivated PE Civil Engineer to focus on the civil design components of alternative delivery projects for our New Metro team.  Projects range from bridges & tunnels, highways & roads to aviation, freight rail and mass transit.  This role can work from one of our offices in our NYM area - NYC, Piscataway or Bloomfield, NJ.

Some of the job duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.
  • Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests.
  • Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered using modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments.
  • Identifies discrepancies in results.
  • Provides guidance to entry level engineers.
  • Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with little supervision.
  • Independently performs all the tasks necessary to complete primary design elements for engineering works.
  • Performance at this level requires developmental experience in a professional position.

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field plus 6 years of related experience in civil engineering/design within the transportation sector or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with Civil3D and/or OpenRoads
  • 10 years of relevant experience
  • Experience with NYSDOT and similar projects
  • Experience in roadway and street design including horizontal and vertical alignments of roadways, Work Zone Traffic Control, ADA compliance, sustainable design and grading / drainage design.
