A school district in Michigan is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our dynamic team. This position involves working with students who have a range of learning, mental, emotional, and physical disabilities. As a Special Education Teacher, you will design and deliver lessons geared towards the individual needs and capabilities of your students and play a critical role in helping them achieve their full potential.

Responsibilities:

Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) that cater to the specific educational needs of each student.
Use various teaching techniques and tools, including technology, to enhance student learning and outcomes.
Collaborate with other teachers, parents, and professionals to create a supportive and inclusive educational environment.
Monitor and document student progress, adapting educational plans as necessary to promote effective learning.
Participate in IEP meetings, providing insight and updates on student progress and adjustments needed.
Manage classroom behavior using effective, compassionate strategies that promote respect and positive interactions.
Engage in continuous professional development to ensure best practices in special education.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field; a Master’s degree is preferred.
Valid Michigan teaching license with an endorsement in Special Education.
Experience working with students with disabilities is highly desirable.
Strong understanding of the specific needs of students with disabilities and familiarity with applicable educational technology and software.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with students, staff, and families.
Ability to work flexibly in a team and adapt to the diverse needs of students.
