We are looking for a Full time Athletic Trainer to join our Rehab Services team!

Shift: Varies days, evenings, and weekends

  • Position Summary:
    • The Athletic Training position requires the ability to independently evaluate, plan a treatment and modify treatment for a wide variety of patients and athletes.  Local high schools sporting events coverage and training room coverage, emergency medical care at events, injury prevention, and acting as a liaison between the schools and hospital are additional responsibilities.
  • Job Relationships:
    • Reports to Director of Rehab Services.
  • Primary Customer Served:
    • Pediatric (1 – 12 years)
    • Adolescent (13 – 18 years)
    • Adult (19 – 65 years)
    • Geriatric (> 66 years)
    • Family/Visitors
    • Physicians
    • Community Agencies
  • Education and Training Required:
    • Bachelors degree or higher in a health related field.
    • Current certification by NATA and BOC as an ATC.
    • Licensure as an athletic trainer in the State of Wisconsin or eligible for licensure required.
    • CPR and first aid certification required.
    • Must hold a current driver's license and in good standing.
  • Experience:
    • Prefer experience as an athletic trainer in a clinical and secondary school setting.
  • Special Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
    • Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Requires ability to work in a team environment and to collaborate with a variety of medical professionals, families, and clients.
    • Must also be able to work independently and be a self-starter who is able to encourage and motivate others.
    • Possess a willingness to learn and expand skills.
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Physical Demands:
      • Frequently sit, stand, walk, talk and hear
      • Occasionally use hands or finger to handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms
      • Occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
      • Occasionally lift up to 30# required to move/transfer supplies and equipment or perform employee job tasks
      • Occasionally crouch, bend to knee and below knee, reach overhead, reach in front of the body, handle objects, use sustained grip/pinch, and perform fine motor tasks & fingering for performing therapy, fabricating adaptive equipment and demonstrating tasks to patients.
    • Sight:
      • Frequently use near visual acuity to read written and computer information
      • Occasionally use spatial perception and far vision for identifying students/patients and observing student/patient performance.
    • Cognition/Communication:
      • Frequently communicate effectively with physicians, patients, family members, and school administration, and other staff using ordinary conversation, comprehensive speech, telephone skills, and ability to hear a whisper.
      • Frequently use simple and complex writing for documentation; simple and complex reading skills with medical records and journals/articles.
      • Occasional use of simple math for budget parameters, calculating assessment scores and norms and heart rates.
    • Environmental Conditions:
      • Frequently work indoors in patient environment
      • Frequently work outdoors with coverage of events or other community programs
      • Occasional exposure to fumes/odors inherent in patient environments.
    • Potential Hazards:
      • Occasional infectious exposure to blood/body fluids & disease
      • Occasional exposure to general waste/trash and moving mechanical parts during patient care and us of therapy equipment.
      • Occasional exposure to potential harm due to unpredictable behaviors by patients.

      • Frequent need for flexibility in changing schedules, with frequently changing tasks; and speed, consistency and accuracy in rehab techniques and medical management of injuries and working with a diverse patient population.
      • Frequently use interpersonal skills for working closely with others, manage conflict or difficult situations, creativity, problem solving and constant decision making skills when working with other team members, patients, family members, physicians, and community members.
