Job Description

AECOM has an exciting opportunity for an Environmental Geologist to join our Fresno or Bakersfield, CA Remediation team. We are seeking candidates who will be able to immediately contribute to the successful delivery of existing projects within the Oil and Gas sector. You will work with a diverse team of technical leaders across a broad range of practice areas delivering remediation consulting, design, and implementation services to our key clients. AECOM is seeking a candidate who has a technical background in the environmental investigation/remediation consulting industry.

Responsibilities for this position may include the following: 

  • Performs standard scientific work requiring application of techniques and procedures.
  • Detects problems when using standardized procedures because of the condition of sample, difficulties with the equipment, etc. 
  • Conducts specific phases of projects for more experienced scientists. 
  • Proposes appropriate analytical methods and techniques. Assists in providing advice and consulting services within scope of scientific knowledge. 
  • Draws conclusions and makes recommendations based on analysis. 
  • Interprets and records data, conducts analyses, compares findings to relevant studies and local, state and federal regulations to ensure compliance.
  • Works under general supervision.
  • Conduct desktop research and field activities to support environmental investigations including Phase I & II Environmental Site Assessments
  • The role involves conducting research and field activities for environmental investigations and preparing reports

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS in Geology or Earth Science And 2 years of environmental remediation and investigation experience or a demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Successful candidate, will have to pass a background check, Motor vehicle records, drug screen and medical surveillance.  
  • US Citizen/US Permanent Resident.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 30 hour OSHA Construction Supervisory certificate;
  • First Aid/CPR certificate;
  • Keen understanding of hazard recognition
  • Project activity planning, and health and safety planning and oversight.
  • Candidate that are proficient with basic computer programs; Microsoft Suite Programs.
  • 40 hour OSHA HAZWOPER certificate or annual refresher certificate.
