Job Summary

The Proteogenomics team at BioLegend is an interdisciplinary team of innovators that combine expertise from many fields to revolutionize the way scientific research is done. Our TotalSeq products enable unprecedented resolution in understanding cellular contributions to human health and diseases. We are seeking an experienced Process Development Scientist to join our fast-growing, dynamic and collaborative Proteogenomics team in San Diego.  The incumbent will lead projects to address challenges in manufacturing multiplexed antibody panels and become a key liaison with Bioconjugation, Manufacturing, and Quality.

  • Design and execute experiments, analyze and report results in the process science area to establish robust processes and products for antibody panels used in multi-omic studies (single-cell, spatial analysis, etc.)
  • Lead projects to optimize manufacturing processes and develop analytical methods to evaluate critical quality attributes for products and raw materials
  • Interface with automation engineers and convert lab-scale processes to automated, high-throughput manufacturing protocols including biochemical assays and chemical conjugation.
  • Lead the implementation of process improvements into manufacturing and train required associates.
  • Lead failure investigations and troubleshoot complex product performance issues.
  • Present results and effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain clear and accurate documentation, following company policies and ISO requirements.

Minimum Qualifications - Education and Experience 

  • BS/MS/PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering or similar disciplines
  • BS with 7+ years of experience, MS with 5+ years of experience, or PhD with 0+ years of experience
  • Expert in antibody formulation, antibody modification, and/or oligonucleotide chemistry
  • Working knowledge in handling DNA and RNA samples and performing molecular biology and NGS assays including PCR, qPCR, RNA-Seq, etc.
  • Excellent communicator and proven effectiveness when working as part of a team.
  • Experience managing multiple concurrent projects and demonstrated ability to meet deadlines

Preferred Qualifications – Education and Experience

  • Experience working with the formulation, analytical method development, and the optimization of multiplexed antibody panels for flow cytometry or immunoassays
  • Previous experience in product development or process development
  • Experience in quality management systems is a plus
  • Experience in NGS experimental design, execution and analysis
