Butler Hospitals, an Affiliate of Care New England is searching for an Integrated Behavioral Health Psychologist to join our Primary Care Practices thought out Rhode Island. You will enjoy working closely with our primary care team to provide quick access to behavioral health assessment, triage, and brief treatment. The goal will be to expand the teams’ ability to effectively treat persons with chronic medical conditions by addressing behavioral factors that impact mental and physical health.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIILITIES:

  • Monday – Friday daytime work schedule
  • Consults with primary care providers in real time to assist patients and families with identified psychosocial issues; frequently performs a "warm hand off" during hours of clinical operation.
  • Assists the primary care provider in recognizing, treating and managing mental health and psychosocial issues and acts as a contributing member to the primary care team.
  • Triages both scheduled and unscheduled referrals from the medical team, treating some with brief treatment/intervention and referring others to more appropriate resources or levels of care.
  • Demonstrates competence in brief assessment, crisis management, triage, diagnosis, as well as mental health/substance abuse treatment and family training within a brief solution-focused model.
  • Conducts patient care in person, telephonically or via telemedicine for consultations and psychological treatment.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • PhD or PsyD in Clinical Psychology from an APA-accredited program required
  • Licensed or License-eligible in Rhode Island
  • Previous experience or internship in a medical setting which supports a primary care integration model preferred, but not required
