Job Title: School Psychologist Intern
JOB SUMMARY The School Psychology Intern works under the direction of a Certified School Psychologist to become familiar with the duties and responsibilities of the School Psychologist.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. 
  • Ensures that all actions are in concert with the Board policies as well as the mission statement, beliefs, objectives and parameters found in the Board's strategic plan.
  • Carries out such additional duties as required or as conditions necessitate.
  • Participates in job training and professional growth opportunities in order to enhance ability to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment. A
  • Assists with problem solving process and evaluation of students for special education eligibility.
  • Assists with IEP meetings.
  • Utilizes effectively the IEP system.  
  • Attends District School Psychologist meetings and training.
  • Learn about best practices in assessment and eligibility considerations and how to apply those to a variety of case studies in the school setting.

Requirements

• Enrollment in a graduate program in the area of Psychology with a certification in School Psychology • Eligible for Field placement as determined by the sending University. • Eligible to receive a Professional Educator License in School Psychology at the completion of the Internship
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES • Requires coursework in education as determined by a School Psychology program from an accredited university. • Ability to use computer network systems and software applications as needed. • Ability to organize and coordinate work. • Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents. • Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth. • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.
