Opportunity: Electrical Engineer

A growing engineering firm is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join their team due to an increase in project demand. Key Responsibilities:

  • Design electrical systems for various types of projects, including commercial, institutional, industrial, healthcare, and multifamily, covering systems such as AC power distribution, lighting, fire alarms, and other building systems.
  • Supervise and review the work of junior electrical designers and project team members.
  • Coordinate with project teams, including clients, contractors, utility companies, and other disciplines, to meet technical requirements.
  • Seal drawings in applicable jurisdictions, where licensed.
  • Perform calculations for photometrics, voltage drop, fault current, and other key electrical parameters.
  • Design power distribution systems, including panelboards, transformers, disconnect switches, and related components.
  • Provide expertise on electrical systems, including knowledge of equipment, manufacturers, and resources.
  • Utilize lighting software to design both interior and exterior lighting systems.
  • Ensure energy code compliance and conduct necessary fire alarm system designs.

Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of experience in the design of electrical systems for a range of sectors, including commercial, institutional, industrial, healthcare, and/or multifamily.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited program.
  • Professional Engineering licensure is required with multistate eligibility.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to independently attend project meetings and present engineering assignments.
  • Experience in leading electrical design efforts with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.
  • Expertise in all aspects of electrical engineering for building systems, including knowledge of applicable codes and standards such as the National Electrical Code (NEC), NFPA Life Safety Code, and energy codes.
  • Proficiency in writing and editing specifications using CSI MasterFormat.
  • Experience with due diligence field work to gather data for designs.
  • Ability to manage construction administration tasks, including reviewing submittals and responding to RFIs.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Familiarity with electrical modeling software such as SKM is a plus.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and/or Revit MEP is desirable.
  • Project management experience is an advantage.
