A-TEK is currently recruiting a Web Application Developer to support our work with the National Library of Medicine (NLM). You will join NCBI’s team of scientists and engineers to deliver high-quality data to tackle the most challenging healthcare information technology issues including, data models, business informatics, analytics.
The Web Application Developer serves as a member of the software development team. This individual will seek to facilitate the proper design and implementation of software. From detailed computer coding to innovative design, a Software Developer is an asset when creating a seamless software experience for our customer. Demonstrated ability to assist in the design, development, modification, operations and maintenance, and implementation of software systems and applications. Codes, tests, debugs, documents, and maintains applications. Provides support on most phases of application development activities; while analyzing and resolving problems associated with applications. Performs maintenance, enhancement and/or development of working applications and interfaces with other applications. Develops technical specifications for components. Responsible for design, development, engineering, integration, and architecture. May prepare program documentation and materials for users.
Key Responsibilities & Duties:
Handle large amounts of data and work in a distributed computing environment
Program a Linux environment
Be proficient in at least one modern programming language, such as: Java, C, C++, Golang
Work with common structured documents (at least one of XML, JSON)
Develop within CI/CD pipelines, unit testing, integration and regression testing
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in computer science or related degree, and 4-12 years experience in applications development (preferably in a scientific or research environment)
Production experience manipulating large amounts of data
Production experience working in a distributed computing environment
Experience with open-source projects and cloud technologies
Fluency in scripting languages such as BASH, csh, Perl, or Python
Knowledge of the software development life-cycle.
Ability to develop unit testing of code components or complete applications.
Strong understanding of software engineering.
Experience working on a variety of software development projects.
Deep programming language knowledge.
Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust security clearance
