The Process Engineering Internship position is located in Cambridge, MA supporting the Viral Vector Service group. May - Aug 2024.
How will you make an impact?
Responsible for the support of clinical and commercial drug manufacturing in the Viral Vector Manufacturing facility located at the Cambridge, MA site. Scope includes design, specifying, and supporting manufacturing equipment such as bioreactors, chromatography, TFF systems, and analytical equipment in our viral vector facility. The individual will also support process validation, data trending and analysis, risk assessments and investigations. These activities involve teamwork across functional groups to ensure project success.
This individual will join an experienced team of process engineers and MS&T scientists working closely with groups such as automation, manufacturing, quality assurance, quality control and validation.
To qualify, applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States, and should not require, now or in the future, sponsorship for employment visa status. Unrestricted US Work Authorization. Forms of OPT and CPT are restricted work authorization and are not accepted for this role.
What will you do?
- Adhere to all established Standard Operating Procedures and Health and Safety Policies
- Interact with production personnel to assess equipment problems and observe equipment to determine what repairs or modifications are necessary.
- Draft user requirements, impact assessments, maintenance plans and other GMP documentation
- Perform commissioning and qualification activities
- Perform preventative and routine maintenance for bioreactors, chromatography skids, and other process engineering equipment.
- Tackle technical challenges on the manufacturing floor as needed for a 24/7 manufacturing facility.
- Ensures adequate training (skills-based, cGMP and Safety) is kept up-to-date.
Education
- Enrolled in a university studying Biochemical, Chemical Engineering or a related scientific field such as Chemistry or Biology
- 0-3 years experience preferred
Experience
- 2-5 years’ of completed university coursework
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Follow Environmental Health and Safety policies and procedures and ensure a safe and balanced workplace environment.
- Ability to self-motivate, prioritize work and time
- Demonstrates a foundation in general scientific practices, principals, and concepts.
- Writes and communicates optimally.
- Ability to work both independently and with a team.
- Understanding of general cGMP standards and practices
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Physical Requirements / Work Environment
- Ability to stand for long periods of time and gown into manufacturing areas.
