This is a full-time 36 hour a week position, Wednesday-Friday 7am-7:30pm, no weekends, possible holidays.
THE POSITION:
The General Medicine Technician works collaboratively with their assigned veterinarian, other staff veterinarians, and the entire Angell West Support Staff to provide Angell West Clientele with excellent clinical and customer service. These services include providing veterinary support in the examination room with outpatients and in-patient visit, assisting with case management of animals admitted to the hospital, assisting with procedures, communications with clients and sometimes referring veterinarians. They will assist the veterinarian in clinic, diagnostic imaging, and surgery and in other areas of the hospital.
Some of the duties include:
- Assist veterinarian with complete history and vital pre-appointment paperwork and vaccine status
- Prepares vaccines
- Checks veterinarians appointments daily and helps the team remain on schedule
- Demonstrates professional appearance and behavior towards all staff members and clients
- Demonstrates knowledge of client information and confidentiality rules
- Submits prescriptions accurately as directed by the doctor
- Escorts clients to and from exam rooms
- Perform animal handling and restraint techniques
- Transport patients adhering to hospital policies and procedures
- Provide exceptional client service based on the individual needs of each client and patient
- Communicate in a professional, friendly and effective manner with all external and internal customers
- Actively participate in international travel team responsibilities including client communication and appropriate scheduling
- Return client calls in order of priority to follow-up on pets status, relay test results per veterinarian’s instructions and oversight
- Relay accurate and timely messages from client to doctor

APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS:
We are looking for applicants with at least one of experience working as a veterinary technician/assistant. Experience working in a fast-paced, multi-veterinarian hospital, emergency practice, or veterinary teaching hospital is ideal. As this position requires excellent verbal and written communication skills, we require applicants to include a cover letter showcasing your writing skills.
