Description

General Summary

Repairs and maintains, in accordance with manufacturer’s specifications, machinery and mechanical equipment using hand tools, power tools and precision-measuring and testing instruments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Observes and examines mechanical devices to diagnose causes of trouble.
  • Perform preventative maintenance inspections of building systems including, electrical, mechanical, plumbing as well as the physical structure.
  • Perform construction projects/modifications/repairs to the facility as needed.
  • Must have a well-rounded knowledge of building systems, repair and maintenance.
  • Be able to troubleshoot, repair, rebuild pumps, motors, and other HVAC equipment.
  • EPA Certification for refrigerant handling and recycling program is a plus.
  • Ability and training to do light welding work is a plus.
  • Dismantles or partly dismantling machines and performs needed repairs.
  • Replaces broken or defective parts with items obtained from stock.
  • Orders the production of a replacement part by a machine shop or sending the machine to a machine shop for major repairs.
  • Prepares written specifications for major repairs or for the production of parts ordered from machine shops.
  • Reassembles machines and makes all necessary adjustments for operation.
  • Lubricates and cleans parts.
  • Others duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Experience and Skill Requirements

  • High School Graduate, technical or trade school certificates in related field desired.
  • Two years’ experience repairing and servicing a variety of machinery.
  • Strong verbal and interpersonal skills

Work Environment

  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs., squat, bend, stoop and kneel for short periods, climb a ladder, stand for long periods of time, constant arm extensions.
  • Occasional exposure to elements such as heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, chemicals, but none to the point of being disagreeable. May involve minor safety hazards where likely result would be cuts, bruises, etc.
