Overview
The Information Technology Manager will be overall responsible for the infrastructure and operations (data center & cloud), telecommunications, and security at the firm. The manager will lead the teams from an overall architecture and engineering perspective, and will assist in the development of standards, policies, procedures, and documentation. The manager will ensure proper functioning of all production systems and oversee all necessary upgrades. This individual will work closely with the CIO and the firm's business leaders to ensure alignment with the firm's objectives. The ideal candidate must have both leadership and technical skills to effectively and efficiently manage the server and network infrastructure technologies and the team members.
Major Responsibilities
- Ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements including SOC 2, HIPAA, and other standards.
- Plans, organizes, and directs the activities of the network infrastructure, system operations, and telecommunications teams.
- Supervises the work of the staff and allocates resources to ensure technical support projects, tasks, and services are completed as planned. Assigns and coordinates work assignments and resolution of critical technical and procedural problems.
- Manages projects and tasks, ensures deliverables are completed on time and on budget, maintains high quality, and manages risk properly.
- Develops and implements long-range strategic plans for data center operations, cloud operations, infrastructure architecture and engineering, and telecommunications.
- Conducts capacity planning. Develops procedures to measure the capacity for devices and applications relative to current and future activities. Based on these measures, coordinates the reporting of these metrics and develops plans to acquire additional resources.
- Assists Help Desk staff in providing technical support to all Firm technology users and completes requests for assistance in dealing with hardware and software problems including operating systems, application systems, printers, etc.
- Provide day-to-day maintenance and support for the Firm’s supported systems and databases.
- Subject matter expert of the Firm’s technology infrastructure (hardware, operating systems, communication systems, etc.)
- Experience leading administrators in firewall configurations, security testing, and IT controls.
- Ensure acceptable levels of performance are met for the technical infrastructure.
- Ensure all data backup systems are performing as configured for complete backups each day and logged according to the Firm’s backup policies.
- Develops plans, procedures, and activities to support business recovery when problems occur including backup and restoration procedures, vendor agreements, spare parts, data retention, and restoration planning.
- Provide superior quality and service to all Firm technology users. Respond promptly and courteously. Identify timely and accurate solutions to technical issues.
- Develop and/or assists the CIO in developing project/implementation plans.
- Selects, trains, motivates, and evaluates technology support staff members; prepares and presents employee evaluations; provides staff training and education; works with employees to fully develop strengths.
- All other duties as assigned.
Preferred Experience/Background/Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related degree.
- Four to five years of relevant technology experience in related technical environment (Cisco networking, Windows Server, VMware, Active Directory)
- Very strong managerial experience and effectiveness
- Experience with Cisco technologies – firewalls, routers, UCS, and switches
- Proven experience in planning, organizing, and developing IT security and facility security system technologies
- Experience in planning and executing security policies and standards development.
- Excellent knowledge of technology environments, including information security, building security, and defense solutions.
- Considerable knowledge of business theory, business processes, management, budgeting, and business office operations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
- Superior time management skills including sense of urgency.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Ability to work on and successfully complete multiple projects at the same time.
- Strict adherence to professional ethics.
Working Conditions
- Up to 15% travel may be required.
- Typical office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Must be able to work extra hours as determined by the workload and expectations.
- Must be available for on-call coverage during evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to sit for long periods of time.
- Ability to speak English to communicate with clients, team members, and others.
