Performs physical examination preparations, point of care testing, vital signs, vaccines, phlebotomy, drug administration including injections, prescription verification with physician’s orders, minor surgery assists, and bio-hazard waste disposal.
Fulfills environmental responsibilities including restocking and cleaning exam/procedure rooms to maintain infection control, cleaning sterilizer according to scheduled maintenance program and keeping appropriate records.
Fulfills clerical responsibilities including sending/receiving patient medical records, prior authorizations, referral information, etc., completing forms/requisitions, verifying insurance coverage and patient demographics, and managing and updating charts to ensure that information is complete and filed appropriately.
Fulfills patient care responsibilities including scheduling and patient flow, assisting patients for exam preparation, collecting patient history, charting, and relaying instructions to patients.
Adheres to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines, quality control methods, and the MA scope of practice.
Min Experience Type of Experience 1 year Providing direct care as medical assistant/related role or Direct care experience in physician’s office or clinic OR Graduate Medical Assistant program from an accredited school OR Certification Completion Medical Assistant Certification _________________________________________________________________________________ Preferences: 2 years of Physician’s Office or Clinic experience. Experience working as a Medical Assistant in an Orthopedic Practice preferred. Additional Information: Excellent customer service skills and the ability to be adaptable and flexible is required.
