Summary:  This role is responsible for writing accurate and efficient program code, updating and expanding existing programs debugging existing programs, and testing software with both manual and automated unit test approaches.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  1. Solid knowledge of the GuideWire Platform and its various applications: Claims Center, Policy Center, Billing Center, and Contact Manager
  2. Proficient in development in one or more of the GuideWire applications
  3. Experience in developing several of the following: configuration of screens, accelerators, plugins, wizards, batch processes, workflows, edge framework, rating, integrations, underwriting and validation rule, and forms inference
  4. Use of GW Profiler and Java Flight Recorder snapshots to analyze and improve code performance
  5. Familiar with the finer details of full stack, three-tier, API based architectures
  6. Understands the principles of SQL DBMS including the optimization of database performance using efficient query patterns, sensible schema design, and DB indexes
  7. Knowledgeable in GOSU best practices and is able to write efficient, self-documenting code using SOLID and DRY programming practices
  8. Experience with providing detailed peer-to-peer code review including the ability to identify poor practices and potential bugs before they arise
  9. Familiar with DevOps practices including pipeline automation and modern testing practices as they apply to the GuideWire framework
  10. Skilled in Shift Left practices, including the design, execution, and documentation of developer Unit Tests with an emphasis on automation.
  11. Able to apply the principles of automation where possible to all aspects of the development process
  12. Able to translate written requirements into an efficient application code design for stories and scenarios according to organizational architecture standards
  13. Writes code to provide new functionality and enhancements
  14. Can analyze existing code to optimize application performance or resolve existing bugs
  15. Familiar with the principles of modern Cloud Computing practices
  16. Documents and maintains program specifications according to Grange standards
  17. Fulfills administrative reporting requirements

What You’ll Bring To The Company:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with emphasis in Information Technology or equivalent in Computer Science, MIS, Engineering or similar degree.
  • 3 to 4 years of prior experience in GuideWire applications (preferably in Claims Center).
  • Demonstrated ability to influence peer group.
  • Shows a basic business knowledge for a single business discipline/function.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in learning and using multiple development languages.
  • Excellent organization skills, with proven analytical, planning, problem solving and decision-making skills.
