Position: Academic Affairs Graduate Assistant

Status: Part-time, (20hrs/week)

Department: Academic Affairs

Reports to: Dean of Curriculum

Start Date: Fall Semester 2024

Compensation: Stipend, Room, and Tuition Reimbursement

Description:

The Academic Affairs Graduate Assistant will primarily assist with the College’s reaccreditation process. Reaccreditation occurs every 8 years. It begins with a plan for self-study, followed by a self-study, and then a visit by Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE), the entity that accredits colleges in our region. We will write our plan for self-study in fall 2024. In spring 2025, we will continue to prepare for launching our self-study by focusing on supporting and analyzing data on course and program assessment.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Facilitating communication, including, but not limited to, taking notes at committee meetings, and writing updates.
  • Collecting data, analyzing data, and report writing.
  • Assist with other duties as needed or assigned in Academic Affairs (includes all PSC programs).

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year institution and enrollment in Paul Smith’s College Master’s degree programs.
  • Ability to work with a broad range of diverse individuals and groups to form a safe and inclusive campus community.
  • Must have training and/or experience in data collection and analysis as well as report writing.
  • Have excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint).
  • Preference to those who have experience working in education, especially higher education.
  • Helpful to already understand how to construct, achieve, and assess learning objectives.
  • Work 20 hours per week on campus during regular business hours (M-F 8-4:30).
