Description

Registered Nurse at Meritus Urgent Care - 48 hrs biweekly- 7a-7p, Rotating Schedule

In the urgent care setting, under the direction of the attending physician and the direct supervision of the office manager/supervisor the registered nurse provides care for patients using nursing processes, independent judgement, and evidenced based practice to assess actual or potential health problems. In addition, the registered nurse provides other clinical tasks ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.

  • Obtains and documents history and other significant information pertinent to the patient's condition and records accurately.
  • Provides patient triage and obtains vital signs, notes changes, and pursues more specific investigation as needed and records accurately for each patient. Reports abnormal findings to provider on a routine, consistent basis.
  • Assists provider with examinations and procedures.
  • Performs IV placements (if applicable), phlebotomy, breathing treatments, and other clinical treatments as ordered by the attending provider.
  • Monitors results worklists and overdue orders tasklists. Provides patient follow-up/callbacks per providers instruction.
  • Monitors and orders supplies while controlling costs. Provides training and support to Certified Medical Assistants for new orientation and other areas of concern.
  • Performs daily quality controls and code cart checks. Monitors supplies and pharmaceuticals for expiration.  

Education:  BSN preferred, ASN required. 

Experience:  Minimum 6 months acute care experience required or new graduate completion of Meritus RN orientation program. 

Licensure/Certification:  Current license to practice as Registered Nurse in the State of Maryland, or if resident of a state that participates in Nurse Multi-State Compact agreement, holds Registered Nurse License from that state that is designated as "Compact" or "Multi-State Privilege" using primary source verification and provides additional documentation as required by the Maryland Board of Nursing. RN License from a compact state with a designation of "Single State" does not meet the requirement and nurse must obtain a Maryland license. Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Maryland. Current BLS (CPR) required in compliance with policy. ACLS and PALS required in compliance with policy in the urgent care setting. 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:  Ability to apply the standards of the professional nursing practice with compassion and empathy. Basic computer skills required. Must have high level of organizational and communication skills.
