THE POSITIONS
The Inpatient Services Inventory Specialist plays an essential role in the daily operations of the Inpatient Services Department and the Emergency/Critical Care Service. They work collaboratively with the Inpatient Service leadership team, Pharmacy and the Purchasing department to maintain adequate stock of medical supplies, food, and any items needed for our patients by placing weekly supply orders.
JOB DUTIES
- Work directly with the inpatient leadership team to maintain adequate medical, food, and office supplies in the department and place weekly inventory supply orders.
- Complete a daily count of controlled substances in ICU and reconcile with the sign out logs. Report any discrepancies to the Inpatient Supervisors.
- Work closely with Purchasing and Pharmacy to monitor back ordered items and anything out of stock. Monitor and communicate ETA of items. Keep an up to date tracking system for the department of these items.
- Assist with picking up blood products from Purchasing, logging them, and putting them away in a timely manner following proper handling policy and procedure.
- Maintain list of IP equipment and coordinate all aspects of equipment repair including shipping, tracking and communicating equipment status to IP Manager/staff.
- Keep medications in our department organized by date and monitor for any expired medications to pull. Working closely with the pharmacy team to ensure proper inventory needs are met.
- Assist the administrative assistants with entering inpatient charges into electronic medical record in timely manner to ensure invoice is complete when patient is discharged.
- Assist the inpatient leadership team with maintenance of files for updated policies and standard operating procedures, including making sure all of our medications have appropriate safety data sheets.
- Support the cleanliness and organization of the department at all times.
APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS
We are looking for applicants with at least two years’ of experience working in a veterinary medical setting, experience working in a secretarial or customer service role preferred.
