Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('SpinCo') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.

Job Description

The Director of Rights Management will oversee the strategic delivery of multiple systems and integrated processes within the rights portfolio to support the NBCU enterprise. 

The candidate will be responsible for driving the rights team to successful delivery of technology projects including the development of rights management systems as part of our unified architecture, deprecating legacy systems while onboarding new users into the enterprise rights management tools and aligning processes within our content supply chain.   This dynamic thinker will own the overall technical business engagement leveraging project management tools and bridging business requirements across project teams and legacy systems. 

In this role you will:

  • Partner with the business, product and engineering teams to drive progress and report risk across project portfolios
  • Create the broader strategic rights roadmap with clear deliverables and timelines, including input from all stakeholders
  • Understand external factors that influence internal prioritization and to support company’s larger initiatives
  • Drive multiple projects that connect the strategic roadmap across businesses and technology teams including Right Management Systems, Contract Management, Scheduling, Licensing, and current AI/ML Tools
  • Provide a customer-centric view when partnering with business groups by consistently managing expectations and communicating risks
  • Develop executive presentations and materials to aid in articulating messages across all levels of the organization
  • Continually improve business and technical processes that lead to the implementation of approved technical solutions and user adoption
  • Evaluate internal integrations and business impacts including the engagement activities related to deprecation of legacy systems
  • Partner and collaborative with the Enterprise Rights Program Team – and broader Technology organizations to make improvements and resolve issues in support of the business
  • Excellent understanding of IT industry and trends, emerging technologies and leverage them as needed to achieve project objectives
  • Provide technical ownership and representation for projects per the NBCU governance guidelines and methodologies

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems/Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent relevant professional work experience
  • 10+ years of experience in project/program management, data analytics or product development
  • 12+ years of experience in an IT functional role delivering work products for large scale projects and applications
  • 8+ years working directly with business legal teams who create, manage or licenses media/entertainment rights
  • Expert knowledge of rights management, content data flows and industry best practices
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to utilize technology to create innovative solutions
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills at executive level, especially at very short notice

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with rights management, contract management, title management or other CRMs
  • Experience with media and/or entertainment industry preferred
  • Knowledge of AI/ML tools in contract extraction, data agents or legal bots
  • Knowledge of BI tools such as Tableau and PowerBI
  • Knowledge with databases, relational and unstructured, SQL
  • Expert in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, SmartSheet, Jira

Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.
