Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced HR Business Partner to support our Explora business a Charles River Laboratories company in California. The is a remote position based in San Diego, with HR oversight for our California and Seattle locations. The expectation is to visit the local site in San Diego at least 1 day a week.
The HR Business Partner will provide HR guidance and support for assigned groups in areas such as, talent development, change management, organizational development, performance management, engagement and retention, corrective actions and compensation administration.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work closely with line management to ensure HR policies and practices are consistently applied. Recommend changes to site policies and practices as appropriate.
- Coach and partner with managers to investigate and resolve complex employee relations issues; seek guidance from HR leadership or legal when necessary.
- Provide work direction or guidance regarding employment law or organization policy to line management and staff.
- Participate in on-boarding activities to welcome and orient new talent.
- Perform frequent check-ins with new hires and tenured staff to assess engagement and share recommendations for continuous improvement with operational leadership.
- Work closely with line management to assess talent acquisition and development needs and develop and deliver solutions aligned with the business strategy.
- Ensure documentation and SuccessFactors transactions are processed accurately and timely.
- Conduct termination interviews, prepare for and attend unemployment hearings, and assist legal staff in preparing for litigation.
- May participate on teams that develop compensation plans, coordinate training programs and determine appropriate participants, and perform other assigned tasks of similar complexity.
- May develop and conduct training and serve as a trainer on non-technical topics such as sexual harassment and diversity.
- Provide leadership and participate in company and community-related events.
- Ensure all actions comply with local, state and federal regulations and maintain necessary recordkeeping for compliance purposes.
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) or equivalent in human resources management or related discipline.
- 5 to 8 years related experience.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for those listed above.
- SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of California pay practices required; experience with SAP Payroll and Success Factors HRIS systems a plus.
- Demonstrated skills in change management and organizational development.
- Highly developed sense of urgency and ability to multitask and manage competing priorities.
- Excellent interpersonal communication and influence skills.
- Proficient in Computers (MS Office Suite).
- Must be able to learn new software quickly.
Compensation Data
The pay range for this position is $90K - $110K USD. Please note that salaries vary within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.
