Sector Summary

DLR Group’s Transportation Sector provides architectural design, AOR and construction phase services for rapid transit facilities, urban transportation related support facilities, rail stations, airport people mover transportation expansions and renovations, ferry terminals, and other specialized transit-oriented developments. A majority of the firm’s transportation expertise and design experience is located in California. The Transportation sector team works with and for various government agencies, design build partners and large engineering firms, primarily in California, to grow the Transportation sector’s design resume and revenue.

Role Summary

DLR Group’s Global Transportation Leader is the strategic, visionary, proactive, and positive leader of the global transportation team. They mentor the next generation of employee-owners, counsel clients, and share their design voice on projects. They are responsible for business planning, revenue growth, profit, and client satisfaction.

This position is available in the following locations:

  • San Francisco, CA
  • Sacramento, CA
  • Los Angeles, CA
  • San Diego, CA
  • Consideration for other DLR Group office locations possible, but frequent travel to CA offices will be required as business needs demand.

Role Responsibilities

  • Work with Transportation sector Client Leaders, design experts, and firm leaders in the development of an annual Transportation sector business plan
  • Mentor Transportation Client Leaders to achieve profitability and growth metrics for the Transportation Sector
  • Proactively lead the development of specific action plans to rectify transportation sector performance on ROI
  • Participation in monthly Global Sector Leader calls to provide update to CEO and Global Sector Leader peers
  • Collaborative engagement with the Regional Leader to enable collaborative pursuit, award, and execution of transportation projects
  • Conduct regular communications with Transportation sector Client Leaders regarding sector performance, personnel needs or concerns and overall strategic direction of the transportation sector
  • Provide input to Region Leader on Compensation adjustments for Transportation sector Client Leaders and Sector Staff
  • Lead, support and execute principles and Business Development activities of o all pursuit activities
  • Participate in industry related events to establish and maintain relationships with teaming partners
  • Monitor industry trends for new emerging technologies and opportunities.
  • Monitor potential industry challenges that could jeopardize or delay opportunities (funding sources, regulations)
  • Identify, recruit, review, interview and select potential candidates for Transportation sector open positions

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering (Civil or related), or related degree
  • Demonstrated and successful experience pursuing and winning large projects
  • 10+ years of related experience as a Project Manager, Engineer, or Architect in the Transportation sector
  • Leadership experience in related field or profession
  • Previous experience managing budgets for sector or regional level
  • Ability to travel for business needs

Preferred Qualifications

  • Licensure Preferred
  • Published thought leader content or national speaking engagements.

The potential pay range for this role is $225,000 - $275,000.
