The Manassas, Virginia site is one of Catalent’s gummy technology development and manufacturing facilities in North America. The site manufactures organic and vegan-based nutraceuticals via confection to enhance wellness for all consumers. Simply put – we make healthy gummies. The Process Maintenance Technician will have in-depth knowledge of hydraulics, belt systems, motors, and other industrial machine mechanisms essential for job procedures. Must be a team player with strong attention to detail. In this position, you should also be able to make decisions, troubleshoot, and perform repairs with little to no supervision. The Process Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing emergency and routine maintenance on all manufacturing equipment, including equipment changeovers, and assisting production personnel as necessary to minimize downtime. Millworks are responsible for the installation and repair of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems and ensuring that equipment is maintained in top working condition through troubleshooting, repair, and preventative maintenance. This includes diagnosing and repairing faulty electrical components of machines such as motors, AC/DC drives, and sensors as well as Automation controls, such as PLC IO.

Shift: This position will start out working 6, 8 hour shifts a week with option to start at 2pm or 10pm, but this position will eventually change to a rotating shift: 2:2:3 (on: off: on) 5pm-5am
The Role
Perform basic PMs, mechanical maintenance, repairs across the site, and assist small scale process improvement projects. Troubleshooting of various types of mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems such as Allen Bradley PLC’s, VFD’s, Conveyors, Motors, and Pumps, AC and DC Circuits from 24vDC to 480vAC.
Build the foundation for machines, grind, and file machinery parts. Construct and install equipment such as shafting, conveyors and tram rails. Work with a range of hand tools including measuring tools, welding, and brazing equipment.
Review and interpret engineering specifications, schematics, and blueprints to determine work procedures.
Transfer equipment to the applicable site for maintenance to avoid contamination or safety hazards. Assists Plant staff with adjustments and changeovers of Plant machinery as needed.
Help maintain good housekeeping in mechanical and facility areas. Observe and follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Food Safety Plan (HACCP) and Food Quality Plan (FQP.). Maintains cleanliness and upkeep of repair shop, maintenance office, and storage areas including all equipment, tools, supplies, and materials.
Promptly reports to plant leadership all serious equipment malfunctions, and suggested course of action.Take responsibility for producing high quality products in each step of production.
Participation in all necessary training is required to successfully perform job responsibilities.

The Candidate
A minimum of 5 to 8 years’ experience as a Maintenance Technician or similar job.
Associate degree with 3+ years of relevant experience or High School Diploma and 5+ years of relevant experience or technical/vocational training.
Background in industrial maintenance or skilled trades in the food industry is required.
Effective communication skills, strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and problem-solving capability.
Ability to program Allen Bradley PLC’s and HMI’s.
Experience with Volpak, Acma, Euromec, Confitech highly preferred.
The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 1000 pounds. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to walk and stand; frequently talk or hear; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to sit, taste or smell.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts; wet or humid conditions (non-weather); fumes or airborne particles and vibration. The employee may occasionally be required to work in high, precarious places; be exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals; outdoor weather conditions; extreme heat and cold (non-weather) and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
