Job Description:
The Configuration Management Data Analyst (Architect) will 'lead' and 'deliver' a large-scale design (beyond the immediate borders of ITSM and CMDB implementation) that addresses specific asset-related use cases, inter-system and data-to-process mapping – and evangelize the use of ITSM as a Single Source of Truth (SSOT), a hub for in/outbound data flows.
The Configuration Management Data Analyst will work with cross-functional stakeholders (business, application, process teams) to understand their needs, explore the availability of the data within the various data sources, perform analysis and appropriately map them to corresponding data attributes within the ITSM Atrium CMDB. As part of the data integration between the source systems and CMDB, facilitate the data transformation, data cleanup before the data gets into golden dataset in CMDB. Maintain precise documentation and accurate usage of the CMDB data. Assist in defining and registering of configuration items (CIs); the appropriate level of attributes, and relationships required to support IT Service Management (ITSM) processes and the governance of data in the CMDB. This role will also partner with Information Security to make sure that additional vulnerabilities aren't introduced due to the various integrations into the CMDB.
More specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
· Enact system audit practices and conduct audits to ensure data integrity.
· Reconcile the CMDB data when exceptions are noted between CMDB, discovery information, and other authoritative data repositories.
· Partner with CMDB normalization and reconciliation rules implementation.
· Support the integration of various data sources such as ADDM, SCCM, Casper, AD, bulk data, etc., into the Atrium CMDB from the data perspective
· Support design, development, and implementation of automated processes for gathering, populating, and maintaining CMDB data.
· Ability to develop SQL queries and reports for management on KPIs to improve the process effectiveness, efficiency, and data accuracy.
· Supports the Configuration Management processes using BMC Atrium CMDB and other tools like ADDM.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
• Experience in hardware and software asset and configuration management as well as knowledge of IT service management processes.
• Experience with Hardware/Software Asset and Configuration data and attributes
• Five years of experience with BMC Atrium, BMC AR System, and BMC Remedy ITSM 7.x and 8.x
• Familiarity with various BMC Atrium CMDB CI classes and relationships
• Two years of experience with AI (Atrium Integrator) and other ETL tools
• Experience mapping the data source attributes to various Atrium CMDB configuration item classes and establishing relationships
• Experience with Normalization Reconciliation of multiple sources of data feeding into CMDB
• Familiar with any of the following: discovery products including Microsoft SCCM, BMC ADDM; reconciliation in the BMC CMDB environment; integration of discovery solutions with a CMDB
• Knowledge of Excel, SQL, query-writing, reporting tools
• Candidates must have excellent organizational, communication, and problem solving skills. Candidates should have proven understanding of IT business needs and knowledge of IT industry standard best practices.
Possibility of extension/conversion.
Candidate must sit in San Jose but candidates willing to relocate at their own expense may be considered.
