BioLegend is looking for an energetic leader to work in our dynamic, fast-paced warehouse / lab environment. A materials supervisor is responsible for building teams, maintaining inventory accuracy, and constantly innovating. This position will have several leads reporting into them and over 20 indirect reports. This role is meant for someone who is comfortable with technology and understands how programs communicate. Lastly, this position will be a cornerstone for internal customer service. It is incumbent to understand how our customers operate in order to deliver the best most cost effective customer service.

  • Lead and manage the daily operations of the inventory teams
  • Ensure daily operation for assigned business area runs efficiently, effectively, and safely
  • Leverages metrics and analytics to report on progress
  • Work with the business units to maintain inventory levels to balance customer service expectations
  • Supports continuous improvements that will enhance productivity, cost savings, safety, etc.
  • Ensures departmental procedures, SOPs and work instructions are updated and training provided to associates as required
  • Must ensure safety first environment and be able to work diligently to maintain safe working conditions
  • Adhere to proper operating practices and procedures designed to prevent injuries and illnesses
  • The job requires a high level of effective interaction with internal/external departments and the ability to both anticipate and quickly respond to frequent dynamic adjustments to the plan based on multiple factors
  • Understands contingency planning and effectively supports Business Continuity/Risk Management.
  • Supports Continuous Improvements of On-time/Defect-free processes through active engagement in Lean/Six-Sigma/Validation projects, Customer complaint investigations for root cause/corrective action, staffing/resource planning discussions, and
  • Identifies opportunities to enhance individual and organizational capability, and helps establish productivity and performance goals
  • Maintains accurate inventories of raw, bulk, finished goods and supply inventories
  • Conducts physical inventory and/or cycle count, performs discrepancy reconciliation and reports findings to manager and accounting
  • Maintains and control of FIFO inventory system, where applicable
  • Ensures the inventory transactions are conducted in accordance with approved procedures, properly documented and in compliance with MDSAP, ISO 13485, GMP, Safety, DOT, Security, IATA and other company rules and regulations. Immediately notifies the supervisor about any situation that may impact the warehouse operation. Ensure proper warehouse housekeeping
  • Maintains the control of good receiving and dispatching to Production and other support areas in a timely manner
  • Drive the inventory teams to seek for continuous improvements
  • Coordinates and follows up with Production, QA/QC and other areas required task to ensure orderly efficient movement and shipment of finished products to fulfill shipping requirements
  • Assists area management on creating and/or updating documentation such as SOP and form
  • Responsible for overseeing the management of material replenishment to include Kanban to all manufacturing departments to meet agreed upon production plan
  • Engages with upstream warehouse partners to ensure signals for replenishment are received and driving appropriate fulfillment actions
  • Accountable for the transactions performed to move materials systematically and physically
  • Regularly monitors the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of material deliveries and pickups
  • Coordinates with various groups such as quality and engineering in order to determine opportunities for continuous improvement
  • Identifies and eliminates various wastes within processes.
  • Drives 5S in every day practice
  • Ensures accountability and discipline within the team and communicates personnel related issues immediately to manager
  • Reviews and evaluates capacity models and anticipates when new equipment or additional headcount will be required
  • Demonstrates initiative by seeking out new projects that can positively impact the organization by reducing scrap, increasing gross margins and improving productivity
  • Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements, and work flow. Designs layouts to place new equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency
  • Generates and maintains project timelines and provides updates and feedback to manager
  • Interview and cross-train personnel
  • Provide regular positive and constructive feedback and evaluate/appraise employee performance monthly at a minimum
  • Completes assigned tasks or projects within the agreed upon dates assigned.
  • Works cohesively with cross-functional teams in order to drive continuous improvement projects, solve problems and meet departmental goals
  • Assist order fullment when possible to ensure 100% customer satisfaction
  • Understand and implement WMS and ERP integration
  • Work with IT to improve current and future WMS and ERP projects
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience

  • 2+ year in a medical device or other FDA regulated environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work cohesively within a team environment.
  • Highly adaptable to change.
  • Ability to develop and report KPIs
  • 3+ years of Supervisor experience –
  • Ability to develop and report KPIs
  • Basic understanding of Lean Six Sigma/Continuous Improvement

Preferred Qualifications – Education and Experience

  • Experience with dangerous good shipments preferred
  • Forklift Certification preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
