Job Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Translate business questions and concerns into specific analytical frameworks that can be answered using statistical and machine learning methods.

  • Make meaningful recommendations to AAO & corporate functions’ leadership team when it makes business sense to “make” vs. “buy” commercially available solutions.
  • Effectively leverage & coach AAO’s talent pool of Data Scientists, ML Engineers, Data Engineers & Software Developers to build, test and scale advanced analytics solutions.
  • Own end-to-end solution architecture from design, development, prototyping to production.
  • Communicate complex findings in a structured and clear manner to a non-technical audience.
  • Partner with AAO’s Analytics Business Partners (ABP) and relevant SMEs from corporate functions to understand business requirements, context & strategy to develop and execute to an advanced analytics roadmap.

Qualifications

REQUIRED

  • BS in a quantitative discipline such as Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics and an MBA or MS in Business Analytics.
  • Bachelors & 5+ years or Masters & 4+ years of industry experience in an analytics function related to demand forecasting, supply chain analytics or data science for a business function.
  • Strong theoretical understanding & hands-on experience in statistical data analysis, AI & ML techniques (e.g., supervised and unsupervised modeling, NLP, Time-series forecasting, recommendation engines, reinforcement learning) and common data analytics tools (e.g., Python, R, PyTorch, Tensorflow etc).
  • Experience with Database Technologies (SQL, NoSQL), Big Data Technologies (Hadoop, Hive, Spark) and Cloud Technologies (AWS, GCP).

SKILLS

  • Ability to work independently and with team members from different backgrounds.
  • Proven ability to convey rigorous technical concepts and considerations to non-experts.
  • Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Demonstrable track record of dealing well with ambiguity, prioritizing needs, and delivering results in a dynamic environment.
