Senior Mechanical Engineer – HVAC | San Antonio | Licensed PE | 10+ Years’ Experience

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the design and coordination of mechanical systems across various building projects. This role is responsible for overseeing the mechanical scope of work from concept to construction documents, ensuring that all designs are technically sound, code-compliant, and fully integrated with other disciplines. The engineer will serve as a mentor to junior staff, manage design deliverables, and support project management with schedule, staffing, and budget planning.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead mechanical system design for building projects in healthcare, education, commercial, federal, and light industrial sectors

  • Develop construction documents in compliance with internal standards and industry codes

  • Coordinate with internal teams and external consultants to ensure fully integrated designs

  • Monitor project schedules and mechanical design budgets, reporting to the Project Manager

  • Support staff development through mentoring and technical guidance

  • Participate in QA/QC reviews and ensure timely delivery of design packages

  • Contribute to staffing plans and help interview new team members

  • Complete at least 10 hours of in-house continuing education annually, including delivering training sessions when applicable

  • Occasionally work evenings or weekends to meet critical project deadlines

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field

  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the U.S.

  • 10+ years of mechanical engineering experience, including HVAC system design

  • Sector experience in healthcare, education, commercial, federal, and light industrial projects

  • Strong interpersonal, coordination, and leadership skills

  • Proven ability to work effectively across disciplines and with external stakeholders

  • Physical ability to carry up to 50 lbs of drawings and to access job site areas including ladders
