At Colliers it’s not our success that sets us apart, it’s how we achieve it. Our people are passionate, take ownership and always do what’s right for our clients, people and communities.

Why Colliers?

Our enterprising environment needs your expertise to facilitate Colliers’ continued growth as an industry leader. Our nimble, decentralized culture can provide you with a wealth of opportunities to learn about our business and quickly gain experience to accelerate your career.

Who you are

As the Director of Property Accounting, you will lead all property accounting activities, including the budgeting and reporting process, within a specific portfolio of assigned commercial properties. You’ll have the opportunity to share your expertise and provide valuable advice and leadership on billing, budgeting, and forecasting to property managers regarding their clients’ business and property management strategies.

You bring a positive attitude in everything you do, as demonstrated in strong relationships with your clients and colleagues. You also look for opportunities for continuous improvement by monitoring and reviewing accounting processes and procedures and recommending improvements to increase efficiency and improve internal controls. You’re flexible and can jump in to help others whenever necessary. You enjoy collaborating with other subject matter experts and regional leaders to develop innovative solutions to support our business objectives and growth plans.

What you bring:

  • 10 - 12+ years of progressively responsible accounting experience within the commercial real estate industry
  • 7+ years experience in leading and developing high-performing teams
  • Expert level experience with MRI or Yardi

Bonus skills and experience

  • Advanced education in accounting; CPA designation is an asset
  • Experience with audits, strong understanding of accounting standards (ASPE / IFRS)
  • Reporting at a portfolio level, including MD&A style lease and operations reporting

What success looks like:

  • You develop and maintain strong relationships with our clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Successfully meeting and exceeding Property Management and Client expectation as it relates to financial and accounting reporting
  • Performing final review of owner reports prepared by staff - prior to being sent to property manager and client; and ensuring owner deadline requirements for reporting are being achieved.
  • You respond in a timely manner to clients’ needs to meet reporting obligations.
  • You develop and sustain a highly engaged team through strong leadership, open communication, and ongoing coaching and mentoring.
