Description

Field Buyer/Planner II
Overview:
The Field Buyer/Planner is responsible for parts distribution to all area mechanics along with all daily parts transactions in a timely manner. Will be part of the warehouse team related to daily operations of parts department and Inventory management
Responsibilities:
• Receive and prioritize calls for material needs for service technicians and shop service.
• Source, procure and ship all material needed for area mechanics as needed
• Makes best efforts to ensure purchases are in best interest of company and local needs as related to pricing, availability and quality
• As needed will be asked to travel to nearby locations to deliver and pick up materials
• As required, purchase Stock Orders to ensure proper availability of inventory for local demand
• Secure authorization from the appropriate person(s) for purchases based on policy.
• Obtain pertinent information from suppliers at the time of purchase order issuance to ensure smooth processing as well as policy
• Responsible in ensuring stocking area is kept clean and organized
• Communicate to the requestor as to the status of the materials requested
• Process all daily paperwork in a timely manner in accordance with processes and procedures.
• Will also participate in any cycle counting and physical inventory
• Places orders for variety of materials/supplies with established vendors.
• Has authority to commit company to purchases within a maximum set dollar amount as established by management.
• Abide by all HSE policies and procedures related to position
• Handles special projects, as assigned.
• Must be available for on-call parts requests. 24/7 as needed
Skills/Tools
• Parts department / inventory experience in the compression industry or mechanical service , Caterpillar, Waukesha Engines Ariel and GE compressors a plus
• Ability to read, write and speak English.
• Knowledge of compression and engine parts books.
• Ability to keep detailed records
• Ability to prioritize and work under pressure
• Computer skills
• Possess valid Driver’s License
• High school degree or experience in the compression industry, mechanical service, or parts purchasing
Education/Experience:
• High school degree or equivalent
• 3+ years of related experience
Physical Demands:
• This position includes the handling of various material, some of which can be in excess of 50 pounds. Proper judgment is expected to be used to determining best method or equipment used during the handling process
