Bretoi, Lutz & Stele, House Counsel for Mercury Insurance Group, is currently seeking an Attorney II to join our Los Angeles, California Team. 

Essential Job Responsibilities:

As an Attorney II at Mercury, you will provide legal representation to Mercury and/or their insured in the defense of moderate to complex personal injury lawsuits. Case management begins from the initial stages of filing responsive pleadings through discovery and ultimately trial. Your case management responsibility includes developing and implementing strategies for all stages of litigation while collaborating with our claims partners and clients. Your team, consisting of a secretary, paralegal, support specialist, will assist you in preparing necessary legal documentation, conducting depositions, investigating/researching, and evaluating cases for settlement, arbitration, and trial. 

Experience:

Strong communication and negotiation skills to represent client and Company interests in litigation.

Able to effectively direct legal support staff in daily operations to ensure accurate and timely completion of assigned work.

Able to work independently with minimum direction and good organizational skills needed to manage a reasonable caseload.

Minimum of 3-5 years insurance defense experience with jury trial experience.

Requires a law degree and admission to the California Bar.  Must also reside in the State and Geographic Region where assigned files are venued.
