The Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for several Associate or Full Professor positions in the non-tenure academic clinician track. Expertise is required in the specific area of critical care medicine with telemedicine as a subspecialty skillset desirable. Applicants must have an M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. or equivalent degree. ABA certification in both anesthesiology and critical care medicine along with ability to obtain Pennsylvania and New Jersey licenses are required. Candidates without experience in Tele-ICU will be considered. Rank will be commensurate with experience.

Teaching responsibilities may include the instruction of medical students, residents, and fellows rotating through critical care units across the Penn Medicine Health System as well as participation in lectures, small groups, workshops, and/or simulation sessions.

Clinical responsibilities may include identifying evolving patient issues and offering real-time clinical decision support to nurses, APPs, Residents, and Fellows. Other responsibilities include ensuring the Penn Medicine Critical Care quality measures are upheld.

Penn E-LERT is a tele-ICU program that utilizes state-of-art technology to provide a sophisticated layer of clinical support to the intensive care units throughout the University of Pennsylvania Health System. The program supports over 500 intensive care beds with Penn E-LERT deployed as a health system standard of care. Clinicians utilize software technology, hardware technology, and trended data analysis to proactively identify impending or evolving patient problems, continually offering real-time clinical decision support, in collaboration with the bedside clinicians, on conditions that require immediate attention.

The Academic Clinician track emphasizes clinical and teaching excellence. Are you interested in this position but are unsure about if it's the right fit? We welcome prospective candidates to visit the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania Office of Academic Affairs website to learn more about the different tracks: https://www.med.upenn.edu/oaa/faculty-career-development/

We are an inclusive department seeking candidates who embrace and reflect diversity in the broadest sense. Candidates will be asked about prior activities that promote diversity, inclusion, and care equity. The University of Pennsylvania is an EOE. Women and non-binary individuals, those from ethnic and racial minority groups, individuals with disabilities, and veterans are encouraged to apply.
