Company Description

KIPP Delta is part of the nation-wide KIPP non-profit network of 242 college-preparatory, public charter schools educating early childhood, elementary, middle, and high school students. We are excited that KIPP delta will serve over 1,200 students in Helena and Blytheville, AR in the 2022-2023 school year.

Job Description

Your responsibilities as a Lead Teacher
KIPP Delta teachers are at the core of our mission to help students develop the knowledge, skills, and character strengths needed to succeed throughout their education and in the competitive world beyond.

If you firmly believe that all students can learn, if you have a proven willingness to do whatever it takes to disrupt the opportunity gap, if you thrive in an environment that is both collaborative and entrepreneurial, and if you are eager to work alongside passionate educators committed to creating an equitable and inclusive school environment, then you are a KIPP Delta teacher.

As a KIPP Delta Teacher, your core responsibilities include:

Curriculum Development and Instruction

  • Adapt and execute a rigorous, standards-aligned curriculum
  • Develop academically rigorous lessons, unit plans, rubrics and assessments
  • Use data to inform instructional decisions
  • Provide students with daily feedback on performance and plan for individual learning needs

Help Build a Positive School and Classroom Culture

  • Embody and maintain school’s values, policies and culture
  • Develop positive relationships with students, families, teachers and staff
  • Establish and maintain strong communication with all parents and share progress
  • Show up for critical school events, including: staff meetings, open houses, parent teacher conferences and more

Demonstrate a Growth Mindset

  • Pursue challenging professional goals each year
  • Give and receive positive and constructive feedback with your colleagues
  • Participate in school-wide and individual professional development

Educational Equity and Inclusion

  • Support the KIPP Delta Public Schools vision for academic excellence and critical consciousness, so that our students have “access to pursue the path they choose.”
  • Engage with “love, faith, and humility” towards ALL members of our community.
  • Regularly do the foundational work of learning and understanding the original dehumanization of African Americans and how the laws and policies created through this process resulted in systemic racism for the purpose of white supremacy and the cultural rules and norms of white supremacy and anti-blackness.
  • Commit to develop a working knowledge of internalized racism and how and why educated, intelligent and dynamic BIPOC may produce a fear response in both white and other BIPOC peoples and how to respond and support others if/when this phenomenon occurs.
  • Work to ensure students, staff and families of all identity groups are full participants in decisions that shape the school or department.
  • Commit to working with families as equals, co-educators, learners and decision makers.

Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Supporting student recruitment, enrollment, and retention activities as needed
  • Write letters of recommendation for students as needed

Qualifications

The following are required of all KIPP Delta teachers:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Valid Arkansas teaching license in Special Education (or in another state that has reciprocity)
  • Meet Arkansas Qualified Teacher (AQT) status by demonstrated content knowledge in the Core Academic subject area being taught. Please see the Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) for more information: http://dese.ade.arkansas.gov/divisions/educator%20effectiveness/education-workforce-resources-data/arkansas-qualified-teacher-aqt.
  • Passing scores on the PRAXIS I and PRAXIS II exams in the content area hired for or commitment to completing both tests within two months of hiring date
  • Pass criminal background check
  • Demonstrated commitment to closing the opportunity gap

Additional Information

Salary will be commensurate with experience. KIPP Delta's salary schedule is available on our website, under "State Required Information."
