Hiring Requirement: This position requires the individual to be a certified journeyman for Electro-Mechanical maintenance.

  • Keeps machinery and equipment in a state of good repair.
  • Installs, moves, and repairs machinery, machine tools, and other mechanical equipment in the plant. Determines correct location and method of securing – assuring proper alignment and operation of the machinery once in place.
  • When breakdowns occur, must be able to observe, test, and diagnose the cause of failure and make the necessary repairs and adjustments.
  • Must be able to read, follow, and understand engineering specifications, schematics, and electrical and mechanical code specifications in maintaining and repairing equipment.
  • Connects power to machines or equipment and tests unit to evaluate its electrical and mechanical operation.
  • Lays out, assembles, installs, tests, maintains, and repairs electrical fixtures, apparatus and wiring used in electrical systems.
  • Bends and installs conduit, runs wires, and makes hook-ups. Installs lighting and power circuits, power and control equipment.
  • Connects cables in master distribution cabinets. Connects motors and generators.
  • Installs and services electrical contact rails. Wires bus ducts, troughs, switchboards, switchgear, transformers, motors, and generators.
  • Diagnoses trouble in lighting and power circuits. Adjust and repair welders.  Checks, repairs, and adjusts electrical solenoids and limit switches.
  • Locates and repairs faulty electrical equipment. Repairs AC and DC starters.  Changes or replaces bulbs, starters, and ballasts.
  • Repairs heating appliances, electric meters, and electrical welding controls. Connects equipment transformers, meters, and relays.  Adjusts timing relays.
  • Testing and reconditioning of large and small AC/DC motors. Checks and tests electrical motor circuits.
  • Analyze test results, machine error messages, and information obtained from operators in order to diagnose equipment problems and make necessary repairs (adjust clearances, align moving parts, etc.)
  • Troubleshoots, identifies, and replaces defective components of electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Install, examine, replace, or repair electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, fiber-optic and coaxial cable assemblies, and other electrical components.
  • Test electrical and electronic equipment and components for continuity, current, voltage and resistance.
  • Maintain, repair, install, and test switchgear, transformers, switchboard meters, regulators, and reactors.
  • Maintain, repair, install, and test electrical motors, generators, alternators, industrial storage batteries, and hydraulic and pneumatic electric control systems.
  • Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair industrial, electrical, and electronic control systems and other related devices.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance programs and keep maintenance records.
  • Installs robots and confirms mechanical and electrical operation.
  • Clean, lubricate, and adjust parts, equipment, and machinery.
  • Moves and aligns machinery and equipment, using (hoists, dollies, rollers, trucks, etc.).
  • Welds various plant items, structural steel, jigs, machinery, machine tools, etc. Must perform welds on a variety of metals and their alloys, and have the ability to do brazing, straightening, and normalizing.
  • Insert shims, adjust tension on nuts and bolts, or position parts, using tools and measuring instruments, to set specified clearances between moving and stationary parts.
  • Shrink-fit bushings, sleeves, rings, liners, gears, and wheels to specified items, using gas heating equipment.
  • Operates lathe to grind, file, and turn machine parts to dimensional specifications.
  • Constructs foundation for machines, using tools and building materials (wood, cement, steel, etc.)
  • Dismantles, moves, and reassembles equipment, securing to the foundation or other structures.
  • Positions steel beams to support bedplates of machines and equipment, using blueprints and schematic drawings.
  • Attach moving parts and subassemblies to equipment, as required.
