POSITION: Senior Project Manager

POSTION LOCATION: Houston, TX Office

SALARY RANGE: $125,000 - $145,000

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Oversees the work of others and assigns work to a team of employees within the Texas Engineering Department. Manages large and complex projects involving special skills and multi-disciplinary teams. Develops strong relationships with clients and performs the role of client manager. Makes decisions and recommendations that are recognized as au­thoritative and impact company’s performance and activity. In a supervisory capacity, is re­sponsible for a team of employees. Supervises and coordinates the activities within the department in support of corporate policies, goals, and objectives. Represents the company in the industry and sets an example for staff.

POSITION DUTIES:

  • Recognize staffing needs, assist with hiring.
  • Prepare and/or monitor project scopes, budgets, schedules to assure an economical timely delivery of projects.
  • Make decisions independently and take responsibility for project management and project engineering solutions.
  • Communicate and coordinate efforts and ideas with peers and management team.
  • Lead single and multi-disciplined projects providing technical guidance and mentoring of project team members.
  • Ensure all technical aspects of the project, including the design, specifications, and reports, follow Baxter & Woodman quality objective as well as all agency criteria.
  • Prepare engineering project proposals and statement of qualifications in coordination with the business development and marketing departments.
  • Prepare wastewater treatment plant designs, water designs, and water calculations.
  • Represent the company in client and agency meetings to resolve questions and to plan and coordinate work.
  • Review draft agreements. Provide input and approval for scope and fee.
  • Build teams, and assign staff to projects based on knowledge, skills, and availability.
  • Link management and staff through active communication.
  • Monitor department performance and evaluate staff regularly (client satisfaction, project schedule, project budget, billings, QA/QC).
  • Plan department efforts, workload, and budget.
  • Direct staff efforts and development according to plans and personal skills; support in achieving goals.
  • Perform employee and staff performance evaluations.
  • Provide knowledge transfer and training opportunities for staff.

POSITION REQUIRMENTS:

  • B.S. degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Registered professional engineering license, Texas preferred.
  • 15 or more years of proven progressive experience in consultant civil engineering.
  • Broad knowledge of principles of engineering as well as advanced engineering expertise.
  • Experience in the design of water and wastewater projects including wastewater treatment plants.
  • Experience with municipal utilities services.
  • An ABET accredited B.S. degree in Civil Engineering or applicable alternate engineering degree.
  • Five (5) or more years related experience in project management and design.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from other managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to travel throughout assigned office service areas (own transportation).
  • Excellent technical writing skills.
  • Strong written, verbal, computer, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
