Civil Engineer, Goshen NY
LAN Associates Engineering, Planning, Architecture, Surveying, Inc., (“LAN”) is a mid-sized, multi-disciplined architecture and engineering firm. Our Goshen, NY office is growing, and we are looking to expand our engineering presence. We are seeking an experienced Civil Engineer to join our team. In this exciting role, you will be expected to collaborate with our Civil Engineering department primarily located in Midland Park, NJ, to design projects originating from the NY office. The ideal candidate should be experienced in managing land use, site development and civil engineering projects, and collaborating with interdepartmental design teams or consultants to meet our Client’s needs.
LAN Associates employs over 100 design professionals consisting of designers, architects, engineers, surveyors, project managers, environmental experts, construction administrators and supporting technical staff in five offices across three states. The firm has more than 57 years of experience in the planning, design, and construction of a wide range of projects. LAN offers a competitive salary and a premiere benefits package. Starting salary for this position is expected to be $120,000 - $150,000 per year commensurate with appropriate relevant experience.
Qualification Requirements:
- Possession of valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
- Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of New York for a minimum 6+ years
- Experience with public /private commercial, educational, and institutional projects
- Proficient in AutoCAD drafting
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong leadership skills to mentor and manage supporting designers
- Must have experience in meeting with Clients and writing proposals
- Requires good project management skills with the ability to complete design work on budget
- Ability to prepare cost estimates for site development projects
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must be able to manage and design multiple projects of various scales simultaneously.
- Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize multiple assignments without direct supervision
- Must be familiar with SEQRA, NYS DEP & NYS DEC
- Interest in business development and practice management is a plus
Primary Responsibilities:
- Design and document civil engineering, land use and site development projects
- Perform technical and feasibility studies, including analyzing maps, survey reports, plans and related data to design civil engineering projects
- Develop, coordinate, and enforce all technical aspects of a design project
- Provide expert guidance to assist our Clients and Staff with making decisions during the design and construction of projects
- Prepare construction cost estimates and make budget recommendations
- Identify local, regional and federal land use regulations, and environmental impacts or other factors that may affect project implementation
- Manage design teams to complete documentation of projects
- Perform job site observations as necessary
- Develop and complete applications, permits, engineering reports, and specifications
- Attend meetings in and out of the office for design, construction and coordination of projects
- Prepare reports and present technical aspects of projects to the Public
- Assist with writing proposals and marketing of the civil engineering department
