We are seeking a Technical Security Instructor, Level I with a specialty in IDS/Instrusion Detection Systems to join our team in Springfield, VA. Please see below for the job description and desired qualifications;

In support of our client, we are looking for entry level instructors to train individuals going overseas in the installation and maintenance of specialize equipment, including closed-circuit TV cameras, alarm systems, electromagnetic door locks, vehicle barriers, and other special equipment in sensitive areas of U.S. embassies and consulates. This person will work under the close guidance of the Program Office.

Major Duties are, but not limited to, the following:

  • Detect intrusions specific to an area of protection
  • Detect denial of service attacks
  • Record events and incidents
  • Monitors and scans networks and hosts
  • Detect based on content and context
  • Detect intrusions for multiple operating systems and platforms (hosts, switches, routers, etc.)

The general work load will include the following:

  • Delivers training using established technical security system training syllabi/curriculum/ lesson plans,
  • presentation media, administrative/self-study guides, and trainee reference manuals for technical
  • security devices, systems and procedures in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Prepares classrooms, equipment and student materials for fundamental training course delivery.
  • Sets up and operates audio-visual equipment required in support of curriculum delivery.
  • Ensures that individual professional development records are maintained at the conclusion of each
  • course in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Employs applicable Department of State security standards and other procedures to protect national
  • security information.
  • Operates U.S. government vehicles as necessary in the performance of assigned tasks.

Work will be hybrid in nature, except when training is being conducted onsite.

Qualifications:

To have an active Secret Clearance or be able to obtain and maintain one.

  • One to two (1-2) years of formal education toward a degree from an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education in order to be credited towards qualifications or equivalent technical training. (Years of experience may be substituted for formal education.)
  • Experience in public speaking and giving briefings or instruction to groups of ten or more people is a plus.
  • Ability to explain advanced technical concepts to trainees with various degrees of technical knowledge and ability: from end user system operators, Regional Security Officers, who must understand system capabilities and how they can best be employed for the protection of American lives, Classified National Security Information, and US Government Property, to highly technically trained and experienced technicians and Electrical Engineers with years of experience in the installation, programming, troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of Technical Security Systems.
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license and be willing and able to drive an official U.S. government van/sedan.

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED
