Our school district is currently seeking a compassionate and dedicated School Nurse to provide health services for our students during the Extended School Year (ESY) and continuing into the New School Year (NSY). As a School Nurse, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the health and well-being of our students, promoting a safe and healthy school environment that supports learning and development.

Responsibilities:

• Provide nursing care and physical screening to students; assess students and implement first aid measures as needed.
• Manage chronic health conditions of students and administer medication according to physician’s orders and parental consent.
• Maintain accurate health records and prepare reports related to health services.
• Implement infection control measures within the school environment.
• Collaborate with parents, teachers, and administrators to promote a healthy school environment.
• Develop health plans for students with chronic illnesses and disabilities.
• Educate students and staff on health and wellness topics such as hygiene, nutrition, and physical activity.
• Participate in the development and implementation of health policies and procedures.
• Monitor compliance with state immunization and health assessment requirements for school attendance.
• Provide first aid and emergency care to students and staff as needed.

Requirements

• Licensed Registered Nurse in Illinois.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred.
• Certification as a School Nurse (CSN) is highly desirable.
• Previous experience in pediatric, public health, or school nursing is preferred.
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Knowledge of child growth and development, community health and safety issues, and preventive health practices.
