- You will work within an on-site Team, lead by a Scrum Master/Lead Engineer, comprised of system administrators, software developers, system engineers and information security engineers to deliver Biometric Automated Toolset-Army (BAT-A) software updates and patches to systems deployed to the field. BAT-A is a biometric system comprised of both hardware and software that is capable of capturing, storing, matching, and disseminating biometric and biographical data on non-U.S. personnel.
- As a developer, you will provide deployed system support related to software and change proposals, proposed improvements or enhancements, solution designs, software/system implementation, tests, and related documentation support.
- Collectively, the Team will be responsible for maintaining the operational test environment and configuration of all included systems supporting BAT-A. These operational environments will be used to perform software development, integration, Information Assurance Vulnerability Alert patch creation, and systems testing in the Software Engineering Center (SEC) lab environments for systems, which the government has all the necessary hardware in the government labs.
- This position is unique in that you, as the engineer, are developing critical software updates on biometric systems deployed to support ongoing military operations.
Typical Day:
- A typical day will entail supporting software development—patch updates, information assurance updates or major version updates.
Tasks:
- Provides functional and empirical analysis related to the design, development, and implementation of software systems, including, but not limited to application software, utility software, development software, and diagnostic software.
- Develop and deliver software releases for all systems within the BAT-A enterprise.
- Support SEC SMEDs sustainment and enhancement of software products as required.
- Perform system engineering to assess architectural and implementation software changes required to address changes in doctrine and operational use.
- Support all aspects of evaluations of software and systems (such as analysis, planning, specifying, preparing, conducting, witnessing, reviewing, and reporting on system and software tests and test documentation).
- Log and track issues in a SEC supplied issue repository.
- Implement corrections and enhancements of configuration control board-approved software modifications. This includes analyzing the requirement, design of the recommended solution, implementation (i.e., coding) of the fix and analyzing the results.
- Support test engineers with the development of test cases, plans, and reports.
Required Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering or any other Scientific or Technical discipline is required.
- 5 years' experience.
- AT Level 1 training (must be completed within 30 days of hire)
- iWATCH Training (must be completed within 30 days of hire)
Desired Qualifications:
- Current or previous experience as a Biometrics Automated Toolset-Army Software Engineer
- Familiarity with biometric systems
