The Division of Metabolism, Endocrinology and Nutrition, Department of Medicine, University of Washington is accepting applications for one full-time (100% FTE) faculty member at the level of Research Associate Professor or Research Professor (non-tenure eligible), to fulfill the position of the University of Washington Medicine Diabetes Institute (UWMDI) Director of Biostatistics.
The UWMDI is a multi-disciplinary research institute focused on the treatment and prevention of diabetes mellitus and its complications. This academic position will lead efforts to develop and support basic, translational, and clinical research towards a deeper understanding of diabetes pathophysiology, treatment innovation, and prevention, complementing and expanding ongoing research activities at UWMDI. The Director of Biostatistics at the UW Medicine Diabetes Institute will partner with investigators within the UWMDI spanning basic science, clinical, and population-based research, and will provide expertise in study design, data harmonization, integration, and analyses. This position will lead a team that will support faculty in biostatistics, epidemiology and informatics. In addition to supporting faculty within the UWMDI, the Director will have their own independent research program in diabetes and metabolism related research and mentor trainees in biostatistical methodology and data science. The successful candidate will partner with leadership within UW Medicine to grow the multi-disciplinary nature of the UWMDI. The Director of Biostatistics will work with UWMDI and UW leadership to advance initiatives to foster diversity, equity and inclusion in both research and diabetes care delivery.

Research faculty are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.
The base salary range for this position will be: $8,000 - $19,590 per month ($108,000 - $235,080 annually) commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.
This position is anticipated to start on August 1, 2024 or after.
