Job Summary

This position is responsible for developing cutting-edge recombinant protein/antibody products in the Molecular & Cellular Biology (MCBio) group. The research associate will be involved in developing new lines of recombinant protein/antibody products by supporting projects and team members. The duties include preparing buffer solutions and cell culture media, performing mammalian cells cultures, and purifying recombinant proteins/antibodies according to standard operating procedures. Other job responsibilities include transferring the products to other groups for testing, preparing product/project-related documentation, and maintaining the inventory and record for recombinant protein/antibody products. This role will also support R&D projects to increase efficiencies or develop new technologies for the group.

Essential Functions

  • Maintain mammalian cell culture and perform transfections
  • Purify and further process recombinant proteins & antibodies to meet specifications
  • Prepare various buffers and reagents for experiments while maintaining general upkeep of the lab
  • Documentation of experiments and generation of reports in conjunction with other research staff
  • Maintain batch records and other documentations that are essential to be in compliance with ISO13485:2016
  • Effectively work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment with many projects
  • Critically analyze experiments and plan for future experiments

Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience

  • Bachelor of Science in Biology or a related field
  • Mammalian cell culture
  • Well-organized and great attention-to-detail
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred Qualifications – Education and Experience

  • B.S. with 2+ years of relevant work experience or M.S. with  relevant work experience
  • Expression & purification of recombinant proteins & antibodies
  • Able to work with cross-functional teams and solve complex problems in practical ways
  • Able to lead and help supervise more junior members of the team
  • Effective communicator & presenter
  • Lead/conduct experimental studies with minimal supervision
