Position Summary: 

As a Regional Manager of Fleet Maintenance you are accountable for effectively supporting 7 terminals locations over a span of 6 states in the lower Northeast Region with 7 supporting maintenance facilities. The qualified leader in the position will need to be able to multi-task in a demanding environment and motivate team members to meet the daily expectations, while promoting the company’s Core Values.  This effective leader must have strong verbal as well as written communication skills to ensure expectations are clearly outlined and followed up on. This leader will uphold the set policy/procedures and provide the needed guidance and support for the prospective terminal and maintenance facilities. They will coach and mentor the repair or replace decisions, employee relations, and vendors as well as analyze trends throughout the region to establish a more efficient maintenance practice and provide cost savings initiatives.  The requirements of this position will be at least 50 percent travel time to effectively support the outlying terminals and to insure operational compliance and structure.

The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

  • Troubleshoots and evaluates best practices for equipment repairs, out of service units, break downs and part procurement
  • Performs regular shop audits for conformance with standards for safety, cleanliness, appearance and need of repair or maintenance, and directs corrective measures required to meet standards
  • Continued employee engagement with maintenance staff within the department, fostering the Core Values and culture of the company
  • Executes internal audits on work orders, part inventories and productivity
  • Conducts equipment audits to ensure Safety and DOT regulations are met and complied with
  • Works with OE Reps on vendor related repairs and with warranty/policy claims
  • Responsible for all hiring, corrective actions, terminations within the region, along with all wage adjustments and yearly evaluations
  • Compiles daily list of OOS units, evaluating down time and investigating any part delays
  • Mentors and helps train any new hire additions to the maintenance team on policy and procedures
  • Ensures uniformity is kept throughout the region on practices, policies and procedures
  • Must attend yearly leadership training seminars and designated terminal annual meetings
  • Scrutinizes weekly productivity reports and gives guidance where needed
  • Communicates with Terminal Management on any/all equipment related issues
  • Performs equipment evaluation for possible decommission of assets
  • Monitor vendor repairs for compliance with repair guidelines
  • Examines and approves all vendor related invoices with in the region adding commercial charges and invoices into the Fleet Maintenance Software
  • Monitors Dashboards daily and makes necessary adjustments in the Fleet Management Software
  • Observes daily reports to ensure compliance with overdue PMs and work order reporting
  • Approves and edits all weekly time and attendance for payroll
  • Weekly travel to outlying terminals/shops evaluating and assessing situations

To be qualified for this position, you must possess the following: 

  • Strong knowledge of class 8 tractor and trailer maintenance and DOT/OSHA guidelines
  • Should have pronounced leadership traits and experience with developing future leaders
  • Familiar with the systems relative to today’s heavy-duty equipment
  • Must have 5 plus years of managerial experience in a fleet maintenance environment
  • Must possess the skills to manage remotely ensuring expectations are clearly communicated
  • Strong computer skills and proficient in: Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Must be able to multi-task
  • 50 percent travel time or more is required
  • Excellent written and strong oral communication skills
  • CDL/State Inspection a plus
