Position summary: JMT is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer in the Quantico, VA area for an exciting opportunity to work with the federal government. The position provides mechanical engineering assistance for design and construction projects using knowledge of design principles and practices to interpret, organize, coordinate, communicate and execute.

Essential skills and responsibilities

  • Experience providing professional mechanical engineering consultation in the planning, design, and coordination of large complex projects
  • Experience performing as a consultant in the establishment of design standards and criteria for construction projects
  • Experience providing on-site field survey measurements and verification
  • Experience preparing mechanical load calculations
  • Experience with computer-assisted design software such as Revit, and Sketch Up

Required Skills

  • Must successfully complete and pass JMT's Motor Vehicle screening
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong work ethic. Willing to do what it takes to get the job done
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team

Required Experience

  • US Government Secret security clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
  • 10 years’ experience as a Mechanical Engineer in commercial/government office building design and construction

Preferred Experience

  • US Government Top Secret security clearance
  • Professional Engineer (PE)
  • Experience working with governmental agencies at the federal, city, county and state levels
  • 20 years’ experience as a Mechanical Engineer in commercial/government office building design and construction

Working Conditions

Work is performed at the client site located in Quantico, VA.  Work is performed in both an office and field (construction) environment.  Office to field time is approximately 75% to 25% respectively. Field work requires climbing, walking and standing at a construction site and may be outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Some lifting (up to 50 lbs) may be required.
