The Mechanical Engineer position is a key part of the functional design team within the R&D organization and will be responsible for mechanical engineering in the design of Nuclear Medicine products. This position will support engineering tasks related to sustaining products as well as driving the implementation of new product initiatives.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
Design mechanical components based on requirements set by the project team
Create detailed design requirements for mechanical components based on product requirements
Assist in the execution and documentation of verification plans for mechanical systems
Create assembly sequences, and processes for products prior to transfer to manufacturing
Support Risk Assessment, and DFx (DFM/T, PFMEA, Tolerance analysis, etc.) activities
Collaborate on the mechanical design configuration management throughout the product life cycle
Assist other departments, vendors, and management with solutions or alternate approaches to design problems
Support cost reduction initiatives for mechanical components
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
BS, MS or equivalent relevant experience in Mechanical Engineering
2+ years in mechanical design, and analysis with increasing level of responsibility in product development
Technical experience in mechanical design, and analysis, with emphasis on mechanics for motion control systems, electronics packaging, metal finishing, engineering plastics, fastening techniques, sheet metal, injection molding, and manufacturing practices
Knowledge of material as related to engineering metals, plastics, adhesives, and platings is desired
Experience with 3D CAD design and in particular SolidWorks® for design and documentation
Knowledge of DFM, DFT, FMEA, and FA principles
Experience in design for serviceability, modularity, usability, and aesthetics desired
Experience in a regulated industry, such as medical devices or aerospace
