Description

General Summary

The laborer performs tasks that require mainly physical abilities and effort involving little or no specialized skill or prior work experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Loads and unloads trucks, and other conveyances
  • Moves supplies and materials to proper location by wheelbarrow or hand truck
  • Stacks materials for storage or binning
  • Collects refuse and salvageable materials
  • Digs, fills, and tamps earth excavations
  • Levels ground using pick, shovel, tamper and rake, shovels concrete
  • Cleans culverts and ditches
  • Moves and arranges heavy pieces of furniture, equipment, and appliances
  • Assists/helps other Craftsmen

Knowledge, Experience and Skill Requirements

  • GED or High School Graduate
  • Experience working in an outdoor or indoor building environment
  • Able to understand verbal or written direction from lead, supervisor or other craftsmen

Work Environment

  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs., squat, bend, stoop and kneel for short periods, climb a ladder, stand for long periods of time, constant arm extensions
  • Occasional exposure to elements such as heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, chemicals, but none to the point of being disagreeable. May involve minor safety hazards where likely result would be cuts, bruises, etc.
  • Must be able to pass a local background check and have the ability to obtain and maintain NAC/LAC clearance after hire.
