Location:Near Toccoa Falls, GA, Mileage Reimbursement Available. 

Hours Per Week:Full time - 37.5 hours per week

Caseload:1 Grade School level school child

Clarifi Staffing Solutions is currently interviewing American Sign Language Interpreters for the 2024-2025 school year near. Join our team today! Together we can continue to transform lives and make a difference.

To serve as a member of the education team for the students that have a hearing loss. To accomplish this, they are to use their specific training to facilitate communications between students who use sign language due to hearing loss and students/teachers who do not.

Responsible for effectively facilitating communication among Deaf and Hard of Hearing students and their hearing peers, mainstream classroom teachers, and other personnel in the school system using American Sign Language and spoken English.


Primary Responsibilities:

1. Interpret oral communication into sign language and signed communication into spoken English.

2. Convey the content of the message clearly and accurately according to the receptive language level of the student.

3. Participate as a member of the IEP team.

4. Adhere to the rules of confidentiality required of all school personnel.

5. Report student related concerns to the appropriate educational personnel.

6. Work collaboratively with the students' educational team.

7. Prepare for interpreting assignments including the vocabulary and content knowledge of the subject matter.

8. Assist in communication throughout the day in a variety of settings (recess, lunch, peer interactions, emergency drills).

9. Supervision will be in conjunction with the other professional members of the educational team.

10. Tutor students and make adaptations only under the supervision of licensed educators.

11. The interpreter is to use their specialized skills in the area of sign language. It is not the interpreter's role to perform duties as a licensed teacher or to replace a teacher.



Requirements

·High school graduate or equivalent

·EIPA scores of 3.5 or higher required.

·Experience working with pediatrics preferred.

·No additional certifications needed.
