Job Description

We are seeking a Fraud Investigator for a 9 month contract role in Nashville, TN.  This role will work a hybrid schedule consisting of in the office/field/remote work weekly in the Nashville area.  

In this role, you will be tasked with conducting field investigations of fraudulent human services cases including Supplemental Nutritional Assistant Program or SNAP (food assistance) and working to establish and maintain relationships with the State Law Enforcement Bureau (SLEB) in the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) of the Program Integrity Division.

Additional responsibilities include: 

  • Conduct investigations with State and Federal law enforcement agencies including but not limited to operating surveillance equipment (i.e. video, tape recorder, etc.), conducting surveillance to obtain evidence, comparing agency databases with other agencies' databases to identify potential fraudulent Human Services cases, conducting interviews with potential parties of interest, etc.
  • Act as a liaison for the Program Integrity Division to develop and maintain relationships with internal and external partners, clients, Family Assistance Staff, Administrative Hearing Officials, Law Enforcement partners, and District Attorneys and provide understanding of the Department of Human Services (DHS) policies and procedures as appropriate.
  • Communicating with Supervisors, Peers, or Subordinates and submitting investigative summaries to Human Services Director of Special Investigations Unit for approval via telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person. 
  • May need to testify at Grand jury and court proceedings to assist in adjudication of suspected fraud cases as appropriate.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree
  • Experience equivalent to two years of responsible full-time work in one or a combination of the following: Investigation of fraudulent human service cases, criminal investigations, or law enforcement.

OR

  • Qualifying full-time investigation of fraudulent human service cases, criminal investigations, and/or law enforcement experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis to maximum of four years (e.g., experience equivalent to one year of full-time work in one or a combination of the above listed fields may substitute for one year of the required education).

This 8-month contract role will work a hybrid schedule of onsite/in the office, field, and remote work weekly.
