Salary/Hourly Rate: This position has a probationary period of 100 continuous working days. During this probation period the pay is $17.00 per hour. After the probation period the position converts to a Class 2, with an hourly rate of $17.66.

Substitute Food Preparation Workers
ON CALL BASIS / FLEXIBLE SCHEDULE
Work in any and all of the Hopkins Public School Kitchens when staff are called away due to illness or other matters

Not only are your days filled with variety and fast-paced action related to general food production in a high-volume kitchen -- such as preparing recipes, serving meals, cashiering and clean up -- you also get to build genuine and authentic connections with students. At Hopkins, we believe introducing children to a variety of foods early in life will broaden their taste palettes, allowing them to develop a healthier diet. Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
prepare cold foods- mix fresh ingredients for salads
peel and cut fresh fruits and vegetables, much of it from local farms
slice meats & craft sandwiches
restock serving lines during busy lunch periods
prepare fresh condiments & dressings
take great care with food safety i.e., take and record temperatures of food and food storage areas
serve school-aged children nourishing meals made from scratch
wash dishes … and many other food service tasks
Qualifications:
Applicants must enjoy working with children and working in all areas of the kitchen; handle money with accuracy and speed; be pleasant, patient and service oriented; present a neat and well-groomed appearance; maintain a positive attitude; communicate effectively with student and staff; can safely lift up to 40 lbs; handles stress; works hard, and is reliable. NO SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED, ENTRY LEVEL POSITION.
