LMI is seeking a skilled Junior Event Planner at a client location in the National Capital. Region . Responsibilities

  • Support a team of event planners responsible for organizing events and conferences for national and international visitors to a U.S. government office. 
  • Organize meals, tours, programs, documents for distribution, audio-visual needs, transportation, translation services and accommodations as required. 
  • Provide advice on, review, submit, and track requests for Official Representation Funds  (ORF) in support of DoD events involving international visitors. 
  • Manage government gift locker for international visitors.
  • Work in conjunction with a government contracting officer, government sponsors of events, and existing protocol offices to provide support. 
  • Support other  team event planners in documenting best practices and practical guidance in an Event Planning guide for on-going use by the government office. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university field. Four (4) years of event planning experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree may be considered.
  • One (1) year event planning support experience to include:
    • Experience managing customer expectations and working directly with customers;
    • Outstanding customer service abilities combined with initiative, judgment, creativity, and flexibility.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft applications.
  • Other preferred qualifications include two (2) years’ experience supporting events with a Federal Agency or multinational organization with the following:
    • Knowledge of options within the Pentagon for catering, photography and conference space 
    • Experience/knowledge of policies and procedures for submission of Official Representation Funds (ORF) requests.
    • Experience with entry and exit procedures, including proper documentation, for Pentagon guests
    • Understanding of International cultural considerations when developing a Washington based visitor program 
    • Foreign Distinguished Visitors Training at the Protocol School of Washington or equivalent.
  • Applicants selected for this position will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. For this position, a current SECRET level security clearance is required, and a TOP SECRET clearance preferred, with a capability to obtain Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) Access.
