Job Description:
This position will be based on the Hampton, AR Work Crew. This position is subject to both pre-employment and random DOT drug Testing. This position is responsible for operating heavy equipment in a safe and effective manner. This is a skilled position involving the operation of various types of construction equipment including but not limited to skid loaders, backhoes, trackhoes, excavator, etc.
•Operate heavy construction equipment including trackhoes, backhoes, skid loaders and other assigned equipment.
•Conduct pipeline maintenance activities including
excavation/trenching, exposing pipe, lifting, and transporting equipment/materials, coating removal, pipe surface preparation and other general pipeline maintenance activities.
•Perform work in a safe manner complying with all relevant company policies, OSHA, DOT and/or safety requirements.
•Safely locate pipelines and other buried utilities prior to excavation activities.
•Evaluate and recommend equipment improvements to increase productivity and performance.
•Inspect heavy equipment and machinery for safe day to day operations.
•Perform minor servicing and maintenance on equipment.
•Ensure company equipment, materials and tools are maintained, kept clean and stored in a safe manner.
•Maintain awareness of surroundings and potential hazards both visible and non-visible including personnel, changes in elevation, underground utilities etc.
•Responds to high priority and emergency situations to limit the impact to personnel, the environment, and public safety.
•Safe operation of semi-truck and trailer between job sites including interstates, highways, county roads, dirt roads etc.
•Other duties assigned by the maintenance supervisor/manager that are consistent with the scope of the position.
Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- 1-3 years’ direct equipment operating experience required and 1 year of pipeline, construction or related experience preferred.
- A CDL license or ability to obtain one within 6 months of hire.
- Knowledge of trenching and shoring standards.
- Availability for overnight travel to various job sites is required (up to 80% travel).
This position will require an individual to hold a valid driver's license.
CDL Required. In addition, must have one year of CDL driving experience or an entry level driver training certificate.
When a higher-level position exists candidates with greater qualifications may be considered for the position.
