GAI Consultants is seeking an Environmental Manager to provide advanced experience and team leadership in environmental studies and permitting and/or siting studies. The successful candidate’s primary responsibility will be to provide project and task leadership for siting, permitting, and documentation efforts relating to electric transmission projects. The Environmental Manager will also be responsible for project budget and schedule management, staff management, coordination with clients and regulatory agencies, business development, proposal preparation and cost estimating, and quality control reviews.

This position will be performed on a hybrid schedule out of our Canton, OH; Cranberry, PA; Homestead, PA;  DuBois, PA; or Glen Alen, VA office. Other office locations and/or remote locations may also be considered.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead electric transmission line siting investigation tasks and prepare siting documentation for regulatory review.
  • Lead environmental resource investigation tasks and prepare permit applications and associated environmental reports. Permitting experience in PA, WV, OH, MD, NJ and/or VA a plus.
  • Manage budgets, scopes, and schedules and quality of deliverables for specific tasks or overall projects.
  • Lead coordination with clients and regulatory agencies.
  • Manage technical investigations including but not limited to wetland and stream delineations, endangered species surveys, environmental inspections, and compliance monitoring.
  • Conduct business development activities with new and existing clients.
  • Prepare proposals and cost estimates.
  • May supervise staff of direct-report technical staff and provide leadership, coaching, and mentoring.
  • Strong technical writing ability.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Must be able to travel, including overnight trips. Travel is estimated to occur monthly but may vary. Travel to clients, projects, and meetings in the mid-Atlantic and Midwest (up to 20%).
  • Lead implementation and compliance with safety protocols and procedures.
