About the Role

Waterloo MEP Engineering is seeking a talented Plumbing Engineer to join our Austin office in a hybrid role. You’ll lead the design of plumbing systems for commercial, educational, institutional, and specialty projects while mentoring junior team members and collaborating across disciplines. This position offers flexibility—whether you want to deepen your technical expertise or move toward project management and leadership.

What You’ll Do

  • Design complete plumbing systems, including domestic hot/cold water, sanitary waste & vent, natural gas, and fire sprinkler systems.

  • Own projects with minimal oversight, ensuring quality, compliance, and on-time delivery.

  • Review and approve drawings, layouts, and technical documentation.

  • Mentor junior engineers and foster collaboration across the MEP team.

  • Support project management, client engagement, and business development.

  • Work on diverse projects such as:

    • Educational facilities (K-12 and higher ed)

    • Commercial kitchens, offices, and labs

    • Institutional and municipal facilities

    • (Bonus) Healthcare and high-rise developments

What You Bring

  • 5–10 years of plumbing engineering experience with strong technical expertise.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (PE license strongly preferred).

  • In-depth knowledge of plumbing and fire protection codes/standards.

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, and related design tools.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
